The Stone Fence

A feature that first attracted us to the MLS ad for the property was the historic dry stone fence across much of its front. It happens to be a fairly well known feature of Prince Edward County and, while there earlier this month, we saw a picture of it (quite similar to below) in the County’s tourism calendar.

The stone fence runs along much of Morrison Pt Road and is said to be the longest of its kind in all of the province of Ontario. One source said that British militia men built it during the war of 1812. A neighbour had heard that a travelling Irish stone mason built it. We hope to learn more about it but certainly enjoy having it fronting the property.
